Post-BMT Follow Up Evaluation Studies
Following your transplant, you will be closely monitored for the possibility of your cancer recurring as well as the development of a secondary cancer (such as skin cancer or bone marrow dysplasia).
Your BMT and referring MD will be evaluating you for any post-transplant related complications (GVHD, thyroid problems, secondary cancers, etc.) that may have developed.
Patients will be required to return to the NH-BMT program for post-transplant evaluation studies at the following intervals: 100 days, 6 months, 1 year, 18 months, 2 years, 3 years and depending on the disease and type of transplant, possibly annually for 5 years or longer.
Your BMT cellular therapy clinical coordinator and team will coordinate your post-BMT evaluation studies with you. You will be given an evaluation schedule specific to you at the time of program discharge or when you have reached at least 100 days following transplant.
Your BMT physician will share with you and your referring physician the results of your post-transplant evaluation studies and any recommendations for follow-up care.
You will also be asked to complete vaccinations beginning as early as 6 months post-transplant. Your cellular therapy clinical coordinator will provide you with a specific vaccination schedule catered to you. Please refer to Vaccinations Recommended for Both Autologous and Allogeneic HCT Recipients.
